To be a man who is stable, responsible, and teachable. To be a servant leader whose life is marked by humility, honesty and love- not pride, position, and power. I will help you understand what it means to stand up when everyone else around you cowards. To be a man of character, commitment, and discernment. To practice self-control, integrity, and perseverance. To treat them with love, gentleness, and respect. When I look at you I don’t always see the handsome 6-year-old, brown-eyed boy that you are, but I see the man you will be one day. This vision puts a healthy fear inside my heart to love and nurture you well.Īs your Momma, right alongside Daddy, I promise to teach you as best I know how what it means to honor and cherish the women in your life. I still can’t believe you’ll be entering first grade in the fall. I know that the time I have with you in these formative years is numbered. Every day I get to spend with you is a gift to invest in your precious life. I consider my role as your Momma a serious responsibility and privilege to which I will be held accountable to God. You recently graduated from Kindergarten and it feels like yesterday that your tiny fingers wrapped around mine and I couldn’t stop smelling your soft baby skin, over and over again. This past year you’ve gone from reading only a few words to reading chapter books and doing addition and subtraction. You are growing into such a smart and sweet-spirited young boy.
